Join the The Mopco Improv Theatre for a four-week workshop where you learn the basics of improv and storytelling, culminating in an improv performance featuring YOU as part of YWCA of the Greater Capital Region building’s 100th Anniversary celebration. We want to hear you and your stories, amplified through improv. We want to hear from people who have love and passion for YWCA-GCR, and the building that makes it all possible.

Improvisers learn to be brave enough to tell the truth, and to commit to strong objectives. They learn to make themselves look good by making their partner look good. These skills apply onstage and off. These classes are not only fun, they are tools for personal and professional development. Whether you are brand new to improv, or know how much fun it is and want to play, we'll cover the most basic tenets of improv with fun, interactive games in a safe and supportive environment. No prior acting or theater experience necessary, all are welcome!

Work shops will be held on Sept. 24, Oct. 1, Oct. 8, and Oct. 22. from 7pm - 9pm at YWCA-GCR. The Mop Improv Theatre and those selected from the workshops will perform during Troy Night Out on Friday, October 26 at 5pm at YWCA-GCR in the GYM! You won't want to miss this! Please register for workshops and October 26 performance.

Throughout 2018 YWCA of the Greater Capital Region is celebrating the 100 year anniversary of our beautiful building (May 8, 1918 to May 8, 2018). For the past 100 years this building has been the start of positive change for thousands of local women and children. Programs offered in this building by YWCA-GCR are designed to help women prepare for school and employment through economic advancement programs. It provides affordable, safe and supportive transitional and permanent housing, food security services, homelessness prevention, and advocates for gender and racial equity. With your support, we will be able to continue to be a catalyst for positive change in the community.
